Grow Your Own Indoor Garden

MONTICELLO, Ill.—  Indoor gardening is a fun and cost-effective activity that allows families to enjoy fresh produce all year. Learn how to grow your favorite vegetables indoors and in small spaces at the monthly Growing Community program hosted by DeWitt and Piatt Master Gardeners.

Indoor Edible Gardens will be at noon on March 18 at the Piatt County Extension Office, 210 S. Market St. Participants will learn how to grow fresh herbs, salad greens, and microgreens and will leave with a micro tomato plant to grow at home.

“Gardening is not limited to outside in the summer, says Horticulture Program Coordinator Beth Miglin. “You might be amazed by how many food crops you can actually grow indoors.”

Some vegetables and fruit can be grown indoors with the correct growing environment, providing fresh produce all year long.

The program is free but participants are asked to register by March 17 at go.illinois.edu/EdibleGardens.

University of Illinois Extension provides equal opportunities in programs and employment. If you need a reasonable accommodation to participate, please call Beth Miglin at 217-762-2191. Early requests are strongly encouraged to allow sufficient time for meeting your access needs.
