Harvested area, at 700,000 acres, is up 70,000 acres from 2023. Winter wheat production in Idaho is 62.3 million bushels, up 11 percent from last year with yield estimated at 89.0 bushels per acre, unchanged from 2023.
Oregon planted 740,000 acres of winter wheat for 2024, unchanged from 2023. Harvested area, at 725,000 acres, is up 5,000 acres from 2023. Winter wheat production in Oregon is 50.8 million bushels, up 26 percent from last year with yield estimated at 70.0 bushels per acre, up 14.0 bushels per acre from 2023.
Washington planted 1.80 million acres of winter wheat for 2024, unchanged from 2023. Harvested area, at 1.75 million acres, is also unchanged from 2023. Winter wheat production in Washington is 123 million bushels, up 30 percent from last year with yield estimated at 70.0 bushels per acre, up 16.0 bushels per acre from 2023.
Spring wheat
Idaho planted 450,000 acres of spring wheat in 2024, up 40,000 acres from 2023. Harvested area, at 435,000 acres, is up 40,000 acres from 2023. Spring wheat production in Idaho is 38.7 million bushels, up 20 percent from last year with yield estimated at 89.0 bushels per acre, up 7.0 bushels per acre from 2023.
Washington planted 495,000 acres of spring wheat in 2024, down 5,000 acres from 2023. Harvested area, at 490,000 acres, is unchanged from 2023. Spring wheat production in Washington is 21.1 million bushels, up 13 percent from last year with yield estimated at 43.0 bushels per acre, up 5.0 bushels per acre from 2023.
Barley
Idaho planted 530,000 acres of barley in 2024, down 40,000 acres from 2023. Harvested area, at 510,000 acres, is down 30,000 acres from 2023. Barley production in Idaho is 55.6 million bushels, down 8 percent from last year with yield estimated at 109.0 bushels per acre, down 3.0 bushels per acre from 2023.
Oregon planted 31,000 acres of barley in 2024, down 12,000 acres from 2023. Harvested area, at 20,000 acres, is down 4,000 acres from 2023. Barley production in Oregon is 940,000 bushels, up 19 percent from last year with yield estimated at 47.0 bushels per acre, up 14.0 bushels per acre from 2023.
Washington planted 80,000 acres of barley in 2024, down 15,000 acres from 2023. Harvested area, at 70,000 acres, is down 14,000 acres from 2023. Barley production in Washington is 4.62 million bushels, up 4 percent from last year with yield estimated at 66.0 bushels per acre, up 13.0 bushels per acre from 2023.
Oats
Idaho planted 40,000 acres of oats in 2024, down 5,000 acres from 2023. Harvested area, at 10,000 acres, is down 2,000 acres from 2023. Oat production in Idaho is 920,000 bushels, down 16 percent from last year with yield estimated at 92.0 bushels per acre, up 1.0 bushel per acre from 2023.
Oregon planted 20,000 acres of oats in 2024, unchanged from 2023. Harvested area, at 11,000 acres, is down 1,000 acres from 2023. Oat production in Oregon is 1.08 million bushels, up 14 percent from last year with yield estimated at 98.0 bushels per acre, up 19.0 bushels per acre from 2023.
